Food Safety in Catering

CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) Food Safety in Catering, Level 2 Award

Delivered by the Soapbox Communications Trust Training Centre              Trainer: Mrs K C Macpherson

Next Course: Saturday 16th June 2012

Many churches (and other organisations) within the Aylesbury Vale area have taken advantage of the Food Safety Courses held at Southcourt Baptist Church in Aylesbury.

This course provides key information that will ensure people know the correct methods and principles of food handling.

Who needs to take this course?

Anyone within your organisation who works with food has a special responsibility for safeguarding the health of consumers. You need to ensure that the food made and served is perfectly safe to eat.

The Food Safety Certificate is necessary for those who have over-all responsibility for the preparation, cooking and serving of food. This course can be taken by anyone over the age of 14.

Trainer:

Kay Macpherson from Soapbox Communications Trust is qualified to deliver this Level 2 Course through the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. (CIEH)

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how they can work in a safe and healthy manner
  • Identify key hazards
  • Be able to understand and utilise rules and working practices of food hygiene
  • Understand the implications and results of their actions

Refresher Course:

A food safety certificate is valid for 3 years. If you have someone who needs to renew their food safety certificate this will be the ideal time to attend a refresher course which lasts approximately 1 hour. A photocopy of the previously awarded certificate will be required to give to the CIEH Trainer as confirmation.

The refresher course will be held after the full course, arrival is
3.30pm, the course will start at about 4.00pm.

Qualification:

Both courses are followed by a multi-choice assessment paper which is marked by an independent examiner for C.I.E.H.

By taking this qualification you not only help yourself, but also help the church, organisation or business to which you belong and also helps to support the work of Soapbox Communications Trust.

Full Course Details

Coffee/tea will be served at 9.00am, the course starting at 9.20am. It will finish at approximately 4.30pm.

The course lasts for 6 hours including the CIEH test (multi-choice questions). Comfort and lunch breaks will be included during the day. Drinks will be provided, please bring your own lunch.

It is a CIEH requirement for those taking the exam to produce some form of photo identity - please bring one of the following with a photograph on it - driving licence, work pass or bus pass.

Cost:

£32 for the Full Course, £20 for Refresher Course.

This includes examination fees and course handbook as well as a contribution to cover the cost of travelling and accommodation for the tutor. This is a very reasonable charge compared with commercial providers.

FREE to those who require the qualification to prepare refreshments at Southcourt Baptist Church.
